UPWARD MOBILITY
KITCHENS

EAST
Since landing in Halifax, we’ve served over half a million meals, not just food, but fuel, dignity, and connection. We feed our unhoused neighbours daily, partner with shelters and frontline orgs to support women and children fleeing violence, and run free school breakfast and lunch programs
that ensure thousands of kids don’t go hungry.

This year we built a Food Security Hub on Gottingen Street, a space for community, training, and radical care. Every meal we serve, every partnership we build, is part of a bigger commitment:
to show up, stay in it, and fight for food as a basic human right.

Upward Mobility Kitchens East opened its doors in 2023 on Nora Bernard Street, located on unceded Mi’kmaw territory in Halifax. Created in response to a growing need for food security in the region the East kitchen
brings chef-made, dignified meals to local communities every day. This operation builds on over a
decade of impact out West, where our team began feeding Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside in
2012. Rooted in the same values of consistency, care, and respect, our Halifax
kitchen is now an essential extension of that national mission.

Partnerships are the backbone of our work. From shelters and schools to credit unions and health centres, our partners help us reach further and serve better.
By combining resources, trust, and shared purpose, we’re able to deliver
meals with care and build stronger, more resilient communities.
