UPWARD MOBILITY
KITCHENS

WEST
Upward Mobility Kitchens West opened its doors in 2012 on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, aka Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Created in response to a growing need for food security in the community, the West kitchen has delivered chef-made, dignified meals to local residents every day since. This operation laid the foundation for over a decade of impact and expanded across the country with the launch of our East kitchen in
Halifax. Rooted in the same values of consistency, care, and respect, our Vancouver
kitchen continues to drive our national mission forward.

Since opening in Vancouver, we’ve served millions of meals to those facing food insecurity across the Downtown Eastside. We work in partnership with local organizations like the Portland Hotel Society, the Union Gospel Mission, and Atira Women’s Resource Society to reach people impacted by poverty, homelessness, and addiction. Over the years, we’ve expanded our efforts to include mobile meal programs, emergency
food response, and job training opportunities through our kitchens. As demand continues to
grow, we remain committed to showing up for our community,
one chef-made, dignified meal at a time.
